The 2026 BMW Golf Cup National Final was held in beautiful Queenstown, New Zealand, at the Jack’s Point and Millbrook Coronet courses.
Queenstown delivers a championship finish
BMW owners from across Australia and New Zealand came together at two of Queenstown’s iconic golf courses to contest the 2026 BMW Golf Cup National Final.
The ultimate prize on offer for the 30 Australian men and 30 women, 10 New Zealand men and 10 women, were places in the field and a trip to the BMW Golf Cup World Final, to be played in South Africa early next year.
The BMW Golf Cup National Final welcomed BMW owners who had earned their place through dealership qualifying tournaments held throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Against the breathtaking backdrop of Queenstown’s alpine landscape, the amateur golfers were treated to four days of world-class competition, premium hospitality and unforgettable experiences.
The world’s largest international tournament series for amateur golfers, attracting more than 100,000 participants across around 50 countries each year, is a continuation of BMW’s longstanding support of golf, not only the professional game but of amateur golf as well. The BMW Golf Cup has been running for more than 40 years.
In 2026 the Australia-New Zealand BMW Golf Cup National Final, was played at Millbrook’s Coronet course (for the women’s event), and the spectacular Jack’s Point (men), courses which proved to be ideal venues to decide the winners, who now progress to represent their country on the global stage.

On a day with occasional rain showers sweeping across Millbrook’s Coronet course, Hwa Lee, a member at the Keysborough Golf Club in Melbourne playing off a 22-handciap, left no doubt as to the Australian winner of the Women’s National Final.
In just her fourth year playing golf and in what was her first time playing the Coronet course, Lee returned a score of 41 stableford points, five points clear of runner up Jianying Qiu, also from Melbourne.
The score was all the more impressive when considering Lee, who had never been to New Zealand previously, let alone to Millbrook, didn’t have an opportunity to see or play the course before contesting the National Final.
Lee qualified to play in Queenstown after winning the Mornington BMW dealership event at Peninsula Kingswood.
As for the Australian Men’s National Final, both Victor Liu (Waverley BMW) and Danny Loypur (Brighton BMW) must have thought they were in with a genuine shot at winning their way to the World Final in South Africa after returning scores of 42 and 41 points respectively, playing at the challenging Jack’s Point course.
However as good as their rounds may have been, they were shown a clean pair of heels by Steven Tan, who with a remarkable winning score of 49 points, will certainly be expecting his 27 handicap to be trimmed well in advance of traveling to South Africa next year.
Cher Xiong (Christchurch BMW) was the New Zealand Women’s National Final winner with 37 points from her 20 handicap, while 25-handicapper Rashid Bharuchi (Auckland City BMW) was best of the New Zealand men with his 45 points.

Not only golf, but exclusive experiences
Australian professional golfer Nick O’Hern opened the National Final with a course and event briefing on the Tuesday morning before the tournament proper teed off, albeit it one-day ahead of schedule due to inclement weather predicted for the Wednesday.
However, beyond the competition, finalists and their guests enjoyed a curated program of premium hospitality experiences, including a lunch at Queenstown’s renowned Ayrburn precinct and a gala awards dinner and celebration, where the winners were officially crowned, at Peregrine Wines.
Ahead of the presentation event, Wednesday activities also included a ‘Masterclass’ with former US PGA Tour professional, WA’s Nick O’Hern.
Known for his short game prowess, O’Hern offered a full array of tips and advice on putting to those in attendance.
“The BMW Golf Cup is about much more than competition. It’s an opportunity for BMW owners to come together, connect through a shared passion for golf, and enjoy the unique experiences that are part of being a BMW owner,” Alex McLean, General Manager of Marketing, BMW Australia said.
“Congratulations to all competitors, and we wish our National Final winners every success as they prepare to represent Australia and New Zealand on the world stage.”
For more than 40 years, the BMW Golf Cup has reflected BMW’s longstanding commitment to supporting golf at both amateur and professional levels and it remains one of the many exclusive experiences available to BMW owners.

The courses – dramatic views, championship golf
Participants in the BMW Golf Cup National Final were treated to a special golfing experience with Jack’s Point and Millbrook Resort’s Coronet 18 Course renowned for their championship calibre and dramatic views. They are two of Queenstown’s most celebrated and visited golfing destinations.
Featuring breathtaking views of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables mountain range, Jack’s Point, designed by John Darby and opened in 2008, is a must play par-72 championship course, located a short drive from the centre of Queenstown.
Millbrook’s Coronet course loses nothing in comparison.
The venue for the New Zealand Open 11 times, seven times in partnership with The Hills Golf Club and since 2023 as the sole host course for the PGA Tour of Australasia event.
The New Zealand Open returns to the 36-hole Millbrook facility and its composite course for a fifth time in 2027, with the tournament layout featuring holes from both the Coronet and Remarkable courses.
Both Jack’s Point and Millbrook presented as fitting locations for the BMW Golf Cup National Final.
