Aberg three clear at Sawgrass; DeChambeau wins LIV Golf Singapore

Ludvig Åberg will take a three-stroke lead into the final round of The Players at TPC Sawgrass.

The Swede (xx) bogeyed the 18th to card a one-under 71 and lead on 13-under-par from fellow Ponte Vedra resident, Michael Thorbjornsen, who shot 67.

Cameron Young’s level par 72 left him a shot further back on nine under after a day when just 18 players broke 70.

Matt Fitzpatrick (69), Brian Harma (69), Viktor Hovland (69), Justin Thomas (72), Corey Conners (72) and Xander Schauffele (74) were five shots off the pace in joint fourth.

Rory McIlroy was amongst those who struggled to get to grips with the course, taking 32 putts in a level par 72 that left him tied for 57th on one-over.

Séamus Power, who went out first on his own and finished in 3 hours 15 minutes, shot 74 to sit all on 66th on four-over.

He was out in level par after bogeys at the first and fourth and birdies and the sixth and ninth.

But while he made birdies at the 11th, 15th and 16th, he bookended his back nine with a triple bogey seven at the 10th and a double bogey six at the 18th.

Power will play with Tony Finau from 12:07 pm ( Irish time) while McIlroy is Nico Echavarria at 12:16 pm Irish time.

The leaders start at 1:40 pm local time (5:40pm Irish time).
