Alex Noren roars to lucrative British Masters victory as huge prize money revealed

Alex Noren produced a composed final round at The Belfry to win the 2025 British Masters and pocket $595,000.

A final round of five under par was enough to hold off Kazuma Kobori and win his first professional event since 2018 at 16 under.

The 28-year-old Swede kept his cool to pull clear of a competitive field and claim his first victory on the DP World Tour.

The $3.5 million event carried more than prize money significance; the British Masters also marked the final qualifying event for Europe’s Ryder Cup team.

Alex Noren loves The Belfry

Noren was a part of the winning European 2018 Ryder Cup team, but has since struggled after the highs of their glory over Team USA.

The Swede has long spoken about his admiration for The Brabazon Course, and his precision-driven style once again proved perfectly suited to its demanding layout.

The win also reinforced his reputation as one of Europe’s most reliable performers under pressure, reminding fans of his enduring class on the DP World Tour.

Ryder Cup drama at The Belfry as Shane Lowry loses Ryder Cup automatic qualification

Rasmus Højgaard managed a T13 finish in England to steal the sixth and final automatic European Ryder Cup spot, demoting Shane Lowry in the process.

The Danish star is now confirmed for the away side, who will face Team USA at Bethpage Black.

Højgaard knew he needed to finish inside the top 30 this weekend and delivered, meaning the 2019 Open champion will now be banking on a wildcard selection.

Team Europe captain Luke Donald has six wildcard selections, and it is widely expected that Lowry will be a lock for one of the picks despite falling out of the automatic places.

European golf stars stake their claim for one of Luke Donald’s Ryder Cup wildcards

Three-time Ryder Cup star Matt Fitzpatrick and highly rated Marco Penge both gave their wildcard hopes a lift with strong showings for T6 at The Belfry.

The pair finished on the same mark and banked valuable ranking points while catching the eyes of Donald at a crucial point, with his wildcard selections imminent for New York.

Penge’s consistency throughout the week underlined his steady rise on the DP World Tour, while Fitzpatrick showed flashes of the form that made him a U.S. Open champion.

On the contrary, fellow Englishman Matt Wallace has a Sunday to forget after steady progress in the week in his final audition for a last-gasp call-up.

After starting the weekend in contention, he collapsed with a final round of five over par, sliding to T33 and damaging his chances at a dream European pick.
