All roads lead to Cobar for Australian PGA Seniors Sand Green Championship

ALL roads will lead to Cobar on the Anzac Day weekend for the inaugural Australian Seniors Sand Green Championship to be played from April 26-28.

The professional tournament will be played over 54-holes in a Pro-Am format, giving amateurs the opportunity to play with a senior pro over the first two days.

More than 70 professional entries have been received and amongst those set to contest the tournament include Adam Henwood, the winner of the 2023 NSW Senior Open and numerous events on the PGA Legends Tour, 2021 Australian PGA Senior champion Guy Wall and Brad Burns, another former NSW Senior Open champion and the winner of multiple PGA Legends Tour Order of Merit titles.

While the event is billed as a Senior tournament, all amateur players are welcome with no age or gender restrictions.

The amateurs will play 36 holes on the 26th and 27th of April for over $2,500 in prizes, while the professionals contesting the event will play for a $50,000 total purse.

The event is made possible by major sponsor Mac Copper Limited CSA Mine, the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club.

Included in the weekend for all competitors a two-course dinner on the Saturday night, along with a clinic, a welcome BBQ and Bowls event, followed by a Calcutta on the Friday.

A presentation for the amateurs will be conducted after play on Sunday.

Monday will see the professionals play their third and final round.

For those who haven’t been to Cobar or experienced sand greens this is the chance to play a unique event.

Amateur entries are encouraged and still open for what will be a special weekend of sand green golf, playing alongside a collection of Australia’s leading senior professionals.

Contact Cobar Bowling and Golf Club for entry information.
