Augusta Golf Dominates Conference Postseason Awards

FRISCO, Tx. — The Augusta men’s golf team dominated in the Southland Conference postseason honors as announced by the league office. Bo Blanchard II was named conference Golfer of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. Not only that, Blanchard, Stefan Jacobs and  Chapman Barnett were named first team All-Conference. Pieter Rossouw Jr. was selected to the second team and coach Steven Paine was named SLC Coach of the Year.

The Jaguars won the Southland Conference Championship where Blanchard won medalist honors by four shots. On the year he finished with a 70.9 stroke average and posted six top 25 finishes during the year. Other than his win, Blanchard was 12th at the Linger Longer Invitational, 14th at the Ford Collegiate, 19th at The Williams Cup, 22nd at the Fighting Irish Classic and 25th at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational.

Jacobs, All-Conference last season, finished with a 71.2 stroke average to go along with six top 25 finishes. His best showing was a fifth place finish at the Bearcat Invitational to start the season. Barnett had a 70.0 stroke average this season with a ninth place finish at the SLC. Barnett improved his average by over two shots from a season ago.

Rossouw’s best finish of the year also came in the SLC where he finished fourth. He finished the year with a 73.6 stroke average,

The Jaguars will next be in action in the Tallahassee Region of the NCAA’s May 12-14.
