Ben Griffin claimed his first PGA Tour title at the Zurich Classic at TPC Louisiana, New Orleans, rounding off a successful double-win weekend for Mizuno that also saw Marco Penge win the Hainan Classic in China.
Griffin partnered with Ben Novak in the team-format event and posted rounds of 62, 66, 61 and 71, finishing one shot ahead of the Højgaard twins. The key moment came on the 71st hole – a difficult par-3 that ranked as the toughest hole of the week – where Griffin sank a 34-foot birdie putt, helping secure the victory.
This marks Mizuno’s first PGA Tour win in over a year, and Griffin’s performance highlights both the years of hard work he’s put into his game and the effectiveness of his chosen equipment.
After sealing his victory, Griffin shared:
I think for both Andrew and I, it felt like it was only a matter of time out here. We both put ourselves in the mix a bunch, especially this season, but even going back to last season,”
“Just a lot of hard work between both of us, and for me personally, it means the world to finally get it paid off or to finally get it done.
In the bag, Ben carries Mizuno irons and wedges in the form of the new Mizuno Pro S-3 in 4-PW (their second win of the weekend), a JPX 923 Tour 3-iron and two raw finished Mizuno Pro T-1 wedges in 50.08S and 56.10M.
