Best Game-Improvement Irons For Distance (Ranked)

Distance isn’t everything. You were probably saying that to yourself as you clicked on this article. But, come on, a few extra yards can’t hurt, right?

With some game-improvement irons, it doesn’t take more speed or a harder swing to pick up that extra distance. The clubhead is designed to create it for you.

We ranked the longest game-improvement irons from our 2026 testing based on adjusted carry distance. However, I also looked beyond the raw distance numbers. An iron that flies two yards farther but makes it harder to hit the green may not help your game.

Here are the five longest game-improvement irons of 2026.

  1. PXG 0311 XP GEN8 — 9.7
  2. Callaway Quantum Max — 9.3
  3. Callaway Ti Fusion 250 — 9.1
  4. TaylorMade Qi Max — 9.1
  5. ONOFF Iron A.K.A. — 9.1

Every buying guide at MyGolfSpy is informed by independent testing and millions of equipment data points, helping golfers separate marketing claims from measurable performance.

How much distance separates the top five?

Only 1.89 yards of adjusted carry separated the five highest-rated game-improvement irons for distance.

In other words, there isn’t enough of a distance difference within the top five to make carry distance your only deciding factor.

The gap becomes more noticeable when we compare the entire game-improvement category. The PXG carried 9.32 yards farther than the Stix Golf Perform Series 2.0, the shortest iron in the test.

Nine yards can change the club you hit into a green. Less than two yards probably won’t. Once you narrow your search to the five longest irons, it makes sense to start looking at accuracy, consistency and stopping power.

Which game-improvement iron gives you more than distance?

The Callaway Ti Fusion 250 and ONOFF Iron A.K.A. stand out if you want distance without making it the only thing that matters.

The Ti Fusion 250 had the third-highest distance score but also finished third in greens in regulation. It produced the smallest adjusted offline number in the entire test and had a tighter shot area than the other irons in the top five.

The ONOFF Iron A.K.A. was another strong all-around performer. Of the five highest-rated irons for distance, the ONOFF did the best job of consistently finishing close to the target.

The PXG 0311 XP GEN8 remains the choice for maximum distance. However, it finished last in proximity, straight-shot percentage and adjusted offline performance.

What is the shortest game-improvement iron still good for?

The Stix Golf Perform Series 2.0 was the shortest game-improvement iron in the 2026 test. It also created the slowest ball speed and lowest smash factor.

However, it did have a few useful characteristics.

The Stix produced the most spin in the test, the third-highest launch and the fourth-steepest descent angle. It also finished fourth for playable-shot percentage.

For a golfer who struggles to launch the ball or generate enough spin to hold a green, those numbers could be appealing. Distance is not valuable if every iron comes in low, runs through the back of the green or leaves you struggling to stop the ball.
