US Presidents Cup captain Brandt Snedeker left off a number of big stars including in-form FedExCup players, a Major champion and a recent Ryder Cup debutant.
Arguably his biggest call was including Jackson Koivun over Ryan Gerard.
Addressing Koivun’s selection, Snedeker said: “It’s rare to see a player this young demonstrate the level of poise and confidence that Jackson has, even before turning professional. We’ve had the opportunity to speak on several occasions, and his maturity and work ethic have always stood out.”
Gerard misses out despite finishing second twice and solo third at last week’s Tour Championship.
Ben Griffin made his Ryder Cup debut 12 months ago but missed out due to lack of recent form.
Major champion. JJ Spaun was left out following a shoulder injury while Akshay Bhatia, who finished 14th on the points list and Maverick McNealy (15th) also will not tee it up.
