DALLAS – Senior Claes Borregaard captured his third Conference USA Men’s Golfer of the Week award after he won the individual title at the Pinetree Intercollegiate, the conference announced Wednesday.
He posted rounds of 74-69-70 for a 3-under total of 213. He was one of only two players to finish under par in the event. Borregaard led the field with 16 birdies in the 54-hole event. He made 11 pars and five birdies on Tuesday.
His fifth birdie of the day came on 18 to clinch the one-shot victory. The senior became the first player in program history to earn medalist honors in back-to-back tournaments in the Division I era at KSU. He led the Owls to a first-place finish in the event.
This is his third Conference USA Golfer of the Week honor and second in the last two weeks.
KSU will close out the fall portion of the season at the Steelwood Collegiate in Loxley, Ala. on Oct. 26-27.
