Borregaard Makes History in Auburn Regional Qualification

KENNESAW, Ga. –?Claes Borregaard?secured a spot in the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regionals, announced on GOLF channel Wednesday afternoon.

Borregaard is the second player?in program history to qualify as an individual for an NCAA Regional. He is the first player in program history to qualify twice as an individual.

The senior is set to play in the Auburn Regional at the Auburn University Golf Club on Monday, May 12 through Wednesday, May 14.

Borregaard had a team-best 70.73 scoring average this season and is the top-ranked golfer in Conference USA. He led the team with 18 rounds at par or better. The senior was KSU’s top finisher in eight events this season and ranks 96th in this week’s NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Ranking.

Borregaard, a Smorum, Denmark native, achieved the following highlights this season:

  • Tied for the individual title with rounds of 73-73-72 for a 5-over total of 218 on a Par 71 golf course. He won the Pinetree Intercollegiate with rounds of 74-69-70 for a 3-under par total score.
  • Tied for third at the J.T. Poston Invitational for a 5-under par total of 205.
  • Finished fourth at the Steelwood Collegiate
  • Came in second at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate
  • Placed third at the CUSA Men’s Golf Championship. His finish at the Conference USA earned him a spot on the All-Tournament team.

The Kennesaw State men’s golf team won two tournaments and had nine top 10 finishes during the 2024-2025 season. KSU finished the regular season with a third-place finish at the 2025 CUSA Championship.
