FORT WORTH, Texas — The No. 13-ranked Georgia men’s golf team opened the Colonial Collegiate Invitational in eighth place on Monday.
Playing Colonial Country Club’s par-70, 7,204-yard layout, the Bulldogs posted rounds of 5-over 285 and 9-over 289 for a total of 14-over 574. Pepperdine snared the team lead at 1-over 561, followed by Oklahoma and Wake Forest each at 3-over 563.
Junior Nicolas Cassidy paced the Bulldogs on Monday as he landed in eighth place at even-par 140 with rounds of 3-over 73 and 3-under 67. Michael Brennan of Wake Forest grabbed the individual lead at 6-under 134.
Freshman Buck Brumlow recorded a 4-over 144 for the Bulldogs with loops of 1-over 71 and 3-over 73. Senior Trent Phillips signed for a 2-under 68 and an 8-over 78 for a total of 6-over 146. Freshman Maxwell Ford came in at 9-over 149 (7-over 77, 2-over 72), followed by junior Ben van Wyk at 10-over 150 (3-over 73, 7-over 77).
The Colonial Collegiate Invitational will conclude on Tuesday. Georgia will be paired with Florida and TCU, with tee times ranging from 9-9:36 a.m. Live scores can be found at golfstat.com.
