Burmy, Grace attempting to qualify for The Open

Dean Burmester and Branden Grace lead a list of hopefuls looking to play their way into the final Major of the year.

The South African duo are amongst a host of top players not yet qualified for The Open at Royal Birkdale.

Taking place on June 30, the 36-hole shootout will be played across four venues, with West Lancashire, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports and Burnham and Berrow taking on hosting duties.

The Southern Guards stars are lining up at Royal Cinque Ports where Thomas Detry looms large. Also in the mix at the same course are fellow LIV members David Puig, Peter Uihlein and Luis Masaveu.

Luke Poulter, the son of Ryder Cup legend, Ian Poulter, is also in the field.

At Burnham and Berrow, Sahith Theegala is the favourite with LIV trio Caleb Surratt, Marc Leishman and Anirban Lahiri for company.

Dustin Johnson has entered Qualifying at Dundonald Links where Carlos Ortiz and two-time PGA Tour winner Cameron Davis are also in the mix.

Another former Major winner – Sergio Garcia –  is in the lineup at West Lancashire. He is joined by fellow green jacket Danny Willett, who has English company in Matt Wallace.
