Farleigh Golf Club has scooped the top honour in the Sustainability Project of the Year category at the England Golf Awards 2022.
The club, set in a picturesque 350-acre venue in the North Surrey Downs, recently embarked on a project nicknamed ‘Operation Pollinator’.
Their efforts, quite literally, have blossomed in the past year.
Two new wildflower areas were created at strategic sites on the 27-hole venue in order to encourage native bees and insects back to the landscape.
Initially, the plan was due to cover 0.5 hectares of land.
With that area of coverage already exceeded and more plans in place for wider development in 2022, the club plan to be busy bees well into the future.
