Situated on the outskirts of Amsterdam, The International club is home to an inland links-style championship layout that will host the DP World Tour Dutch Open in 2024.
It will be the second time the Dutch Open has been contested at the International after the Tour’s previous visit in 2019.
Sergio García claimed the title on that occasion.
Can you play the International as a visitor?
The International is a private club open to only its members, with corporate and private memberships available.
You can only play the International as the guest of a member if you do not possess a membership.
The club’s facilities include meeting rooms, a fitness club, golf school and a driving range, as well as a restaurant.
The course was designed by top golfer Ian Woosnam in collaboration with Mastergolf. This makes The International the first golf course in the Netherlands to be designed by a Major winner.
Located a few hundred metres away from the Buitenveldertbaan and Oostbaan runways at Schiphol Airport, the course at The International is sited for convenience. It isn’t the place to get away from it all, but it is a good course to test your game on.
It isn’t the best golf course in Holland but is pushing towards being in the top ten layouts.
Amsterdam isn’t really a golfing mecca, but this course does serve as the highest quality layout in the city and makes an excellent host venue for championship golf.
The course has great utility for residents of Amsterdam and frequent visitors to the city and is extremely well-maintained with greenskeepers providing comprehensive updates on the condition on their website.
The International has 18 entirely original holes in a clockwise to anti-clockwise, outside-to-inside routing that displays 14 metres of striking variations in elevation (7 metres below sea level to 7 metres above sea level). In addition to creating a rather dramatic dunes environment, they have crafted an engaging course that makes you forget that the airport is in close proximity.
The International is a very well-routed course and draws the golfer into it with a real sense of adventure and excitement, especially for the first-time player.
It is convenient and fun despite not being placed into a breathtaking natural landscape as a canvas, but if your focus is golf then you should enjoy playing what is a very good course, well-built and excellently maintained.
