Toyota, Japan – The Team Canada Boys team finished as runners-up and the Girls team placed sixth in the 2023 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup at the Ishino Course, Chukyo Golf Club in Toyota, Japan.
The boys team entered the tournament as defending champions and despite a strong effort through all three rounds, the team came up just short of Team Japan. Japan finished the boys team event at a combined 24-under par, while Canada finished the tournament at 18-under par. Germany placed third after finishing at 13-under par. The boys team consisted of: Alex Zhang, Ethan Wilson, Cooper Humphreys and Eric Zhao. Individually, Zhang finished T6 at 5-under, Wilson finished T8 at 4-under, Humphreys finished 11th at 2-under and Zhao finished T15 at even par.
The girls team finished strong and closed the tournament with a combined score of 5-under par. Japan completed the team double winning the girls division as well, finishing with a total score of 30-under. The United States, Korea Republic, New Zealand and Colombia rounded out the top five. The girls team featured: Vanessa Borovilos who finished T10 at 5-under, Yeji Kwon who finished T18 at 4-over par and Michelle Liu who finished 22nd at 9-over.
