Carter Loflin wins The Dogwood Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga.Carter Loflin turned this tournament into a runaway long before the final round began. The University of Georgia standout entered the final day with an eight-shot lead and never gave the field an opening, closing with a 6-under 66 to finish at 25-under-par 263. Loflin’s four-round total of 67-65-65-66 was a model of consistency and dominance, and his 10-shot victory over runners-up Bodie Brumlow and Loyola Marymount’s Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh was one of the most emphatic performances of the summer amateur season.

The runner-up in 2025, Loflin could watch the leaderboard knowing that this year’s second-place award would be someone else’s.

While the battle for second place tightened behind him, Loflin continued to separate himself from the field. He opened with rounds of 65 and 65 over the middle two days, then capped the week with six birdies in his final round. No player finished closer than 10 strokes, a remarkable margin in a championship featuring some of the nation’s top collegiate and amateur talent.

The victory adds another significant accomplishment to an already impressive year for Georgia golf. In a fitting twist, as Loflin was putting the finishing touches on his wire-to-wire triumph, fellow Bulldog Matt Moloney was competing on one of amateur golf’s biggest stages across the Atlantic at The Amateur Championship at Royal Liverpool in England. Moloney battled all the way to the final hole before falling 1-up to Northern Ireland’s Stuart Grehan in a dramatic championship match.

Although Moloney came up just short of lifting one of the game’s most prestigious trophies, Georgia golf still had plenty to celebrate. Between Loflin’s commanding 10-shot victory and Moloney’s runner-up finish at The Amateur, the Bulldogs showcased their depth and talent on both sides of the Atlantic in a memorable week for the program.
