Chantal El Chaib Set For NCAA Lubbock Regional

ATHENS, Ga. — Chantal El Chaib made the trip to Texas on Saturday in preparation for the NCAA Lubbock Regional, which is slated to begin Sunday at the Rawls Course on the campus of Texas Tech University.

The NCAA Lubbock Regional, initially set for Monday through Wednesday, will open with the tournament’s first round on Sunday due to expected inclement weather on Monday. El Chaib, who qualified for the tournament as an individual, will play 18 holes per day on Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with action set to start at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday and 9 a.m. ET on Tuesday and Wednesday. El Chaib will tee off from hole 1 at 4:20 p.m. on day one of competition.

“Chantal is pumped, and this golf course is going to be a wonderful test of golf,” head coach Erika Brennan said. “She does a stellar job of not stressing uncontrollable, and with anticipated rough weather and wind she’s ready for the challenge. Her game is in a solid place, and now it’s about enjoying the moment and staying present. She’s capable of achieving at a very high level.”

El Chaib will join 12 teams and five other individuals in Lubbock to compete at the Rawls Course. After 54 holes of stroke play, the low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, Calif., on May 16-21. The teams competing in the Lubbock Regional, listed by seed, include No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 3 Arizona, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 5 Iowa State, No. 6 Tennessee, No. 7 Purdue, No. 8 Campbell, No. 9 UC Davis, No. 10 Florida Gulf Coast, No. 11 Tarleton State, and No. 12 Texas A&M-Corpus Christie. The six individuals making the trip to Lubbock include El Chaib, Ryann Honea (Abilene Christian), Klara Hurtova (Texas Tech), Kara Kaneshiro (Colorado State), Yvonne Chamness (Texas State), and Julia McLaughlin (High Point).

During the 2024-25 season, El Chaib led Georgia’s squad in stroke average (73.52), par-or-better rounds (13), and birdies (89), competing in all 12 tournaments while recording team scores 10 times. She recorded an individual win at the White Sands Invitational, shooting 2-under 141 over 36 holes to take home medalist honors in the Bahamas on Oct. 18-20. The graduate student has three top-three finishes and five top-10 results to her name this season and will look to add to her impressive stat line when she competes in Lubbock starting Sunday.

El Chaib will be paired with Abilene Christian’s Ryann Honea and Texas Tech’s Klara Hurtova on day one and will tee it up starting on hole 1 at 4:20 p.m. Live scoring will be available at https://gado.gs/d5d.
