Coleman Drives Away with Milton Martin Honda Classic Title

GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Amateur Jimmy Coleman of Cumming won the Milton Martin Honda Classic, held September 22–23 at Chattahoochee Golf Club, sealing the title with a 35-foot birdie putt on the final hole.

Coleman, who began the final round two shots off the lead, fired a blistering 8-under-par 64 to finish at 10-under-par for the championship, edging Cherokee Town & Country Club PGA of America Assistant Golf Professional Anthony Cordes, by a single stroke. Cordes matched Coleman shot for shot all afternoon, standing tied at 9-under-par as the two players walked to the 18th green. Coleman’s long-range birdie dropped dead center to clinch the victory.

“Honestly, I was just trying to give it a chance,” Coleman said. “When it went in, I couldn’t believe it.”

While Coleman’s win stole the spotlight, the event also marked the thrilling conclusion of the Georgia PGA Player of the Year points race. Matt Sanders, PGA Assistant Professional at West Pines Golf Club, secured the 2025 title after posting a steady 5-under-par performance for the week, edging out defending Player of the Year Francisco Bide, PGA Head Professional at Capital City Club.

Cordes, fresh off his Georgia PGA Championship title in August, finished Low Professional at 9-under-par, second overall, and in the thick of the Player of the Year race until the final hole.

Another storyline that captured attention was 13-year-old Hudson Justus of Chattahoochee Golf Club, who showcased his immense talent on his home course. The Gene Siller Memorial Grant recipient and 2024 Drive, Chip & Putt National Champion finished solo third at 8-under-par, proving he could contend with the state’s best professionals and amateurs alike.

The Milton Martin Honda Classic also served as the final tune-up before The Drew, the Georgia PGA’s season finale at East Lake Golf Club in November. The top-72 players will compete in the one-day stroke play event, culminating in a winner-take-all playoff for a record $50,000 prize – the largest individual purse in Georgia PGA history, made possible through the support of Philip Jones, longtime Georgia PGA supporter and PGA REACH Georgia Foundation Board Member.
