Greensboro, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s Connor Howe and Florida State’s Frederik Kjettrup have been named the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf Co-Scholar Athletes of the Year and headline the sport’s All-ACC Academic Team.
Joining Howe, a May graduate in business administration, on the All-ACC Academic Team are senior Bartley Forrester and freshman Hiroshi Tai, both business administration majors. The selection was the second for Forrester. Howe’s selection as Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year marks is the fifth time a Yellow Jacket golfer has received the honor, with Howe joining James White (2011, 2012), Ollie Schniederjans (2014) and Anders Albertson (2015).
Howe, a staple in the Tech lineup for five years, enjoyed his best year in 2022-23, posting five top-10 finishes to come in No. 33 in the final Golfstat individual ranking and No. 38 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Index. The Ogden, Utah native tied for third place at the ACC Championship and the NCAA Salem Regional, as well as 29th at the NCAA Championship, all career-best finishes for those events.
He was named to the All-ACC team in May, and also earned honorable mention All-America honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America and Golfweek magazine. He finished the spring ranked No. 33 by Golfstat and No. 38 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Index. Howe was named an honorary recipient of an ACC Post-Graduate Scholarship and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in May. He made his professional debut last weekend on PGA Tour Canada.
Forrester, who also earned his bachelor’s degree in May, and Tai were key cogs in the Yellow Jackets’ run to their 19th all-time ACC championship and runner-up finish at the NCAA Championship. Forrester posted a pair of top-10 finishes in 2022-23, while Tai won twice in the fall and was the individual runner-up at the ACC Championship. Each finished the spring ranked among the top 100 collegiate golfers nationally.
Academic requirements for selection to the team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must have competed in 50 percent of their team’s contests and/or the ACC Championships and/or the NCAA Championships during the most recent season.
