On February 18, 2023, Dhaka Diplomatic Golf Association (DDGA) and Tiger Golf Club (TGC), the local non-profit golfing community, collaborated with TİKA – Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency to donate Tents, Blankets, and Sleeping Bags to the victims of the devastating earthquake which had hit near the town of Gaziantep and other places.

On February 6, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred in southern Turkey near the northern border of Syria. This quake was followed approximately nine hours later by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake located around 59 miles (95 kilometers) to the southwest. 45,000 people have died and many thousands are injured in Turkey and Syria, with numbers expected to rise by 17 million. The earthquake was the most devastating to hit earthquake-prone Turkey in more than 20 years and was as strong as one in 1939, the most powerful recorded there— one of the world’s worst in decades.

“Earthquake survivors were in urgent need of life-saving essentials. Many people lost their homes and workplaces or became unable to work due to their injuries. To ease the burden and provide comfort and support, we donated Tents, Blankets, and Sleeping Bags to the earthquake victims”, said Brigadier General Manzoor Quader (Retd), vice president of the Tiger Golf Club.
Severe natural disasters leave communities deeply traumatised and feeling unsafe. Support at a time of crisis is vital for people’s recovery and is one of the top priorities of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Manzoor added.
Tiger Golf Club started its journey in 2009. The members of this club include foreign ex-pats, diplomats, Business leaders, as well as local enthusiasts.
