Dun Laoghaire Scratch Cup set for July 14

Dun Laoghaire Golf Club will host its second Senior Scratch Cup on July 14.

Open to men and women, it will give the men an early opportunity to play the course in advance of August’s AIG Irish Men’s Amateur Close Championship.

Mary Cryan, Ladies’ Captain said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the top Irish amateurs, Dun Laoghaire is a challenging course but there are no tricks or nasty surprises, only an honest, albeit searching test of shot making skills.“

Dun Laoghaire has previously hosted the Irish Youths, the European Senior Women's Team event, the Curtis Cup and last year’s All Ireland finals of the Senior Cup and the Senior Foursomes.

Having moved to Ballyman Road on the Dublin /Wicklow border in 2007, the magnificent 5 star clubhouse and extensive practice facilities make this one of Ireland's finest clubs.

“We are delighted to host the Senior Scratch Cups for men and women again this year,” said men’s captain, Tom Byrne. “This is a great opportunity to play the course before the Irish Amateur Close.”

The field of 72 players will be a 36-hole shotgun start and will have a prize fund of €3,000. The event is kindly sponsored by the family of the late Peter Cosgrave.

Entries can be made online only at www.dlgc.ie up until July 05.

The fee is €50 which includes a clubhouse lunch between rounds. Further details can be found on the website.
