Dunne and Kearney inside qualifying places at qualifying for Final Stage of Asian Tour Q-School

Paul Dunne moved up to joint third with a round to play and into position to qualify for next week’s Final Stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School in Thailand.

The top 17 at Grand Prix Golf Club — ties will be broken by hole by hole playoffs — progress to the five-round battle for 35 cards and Dunne is on track to make it after carding a a three-under 68 in round three.

Waterford’s Kevin Phelan shot a 69 at the same venue to lie just one stroke outside the top 17 on six-under with a round to go with Declan Kenny six shots outside the qualifying places in 49th after a 69.

At Springfield Royal Country Club, Niall Kearney moved into the top 20 who progress when he made an eagle and four birdies in a 68 to share 19th on five-under.

However, Michael Young faces a difficult task after a 73 left him tied for 55th on three over.

No Irish players are in action at Phoenix Gold Golf Bangkok, where 21 players are inside the qualifying mark on five-under.

Hole by hole playoffs will be required to break any ties on Friday.
