Durban Country Club is set to host the Sunshine Tour this week as the best local golfers attempt to win the Jonsson Workwear Open.
The prestigious course is looking in top shape ahead of the event where Brandon Stone will no doubt be the locals favourite.
Last year, it was Italian Matteo Manassero who scooped the coveted prize for his first win in nearly 11 years albeit that the event was played at Glendower Golf Club.
This year, the immaculate Durban Country Club layout will lay down the challenge where the likes of Austria’s Matthias Schwab, Wilco Nienaber, and Deon Germishuys will be looking for a similar performance come Sunday.
It is fitting that this week the Kwazulu-Natal course hosts a top event considering the it is being played a week before the SA Open. Durban Country Club, overlooking the Blue Lagoon estuary and the Indian Ocean, has hosted the South African Open 17 times, including the centenary SA Open in 2010, more than any other club in South Africa.
