The rising stars of English golf feature prominently in two GB&I teams announced today by The R&A for the Junior Vagliano and Jacques Leglise Trophies.
The junior team matches for both these titles will be held at Blairgowrie Golf Club in Scotland on 26 and 27 August.
JUNIOR VAGLIANO TROPHY
This is an annual girls’ under 16 match against the continent of Europe and this year four of the six players are drawn from the England Golf ranks.
The Junior Vagliano Trophy was first played in 2011 with the continent of Europe winning all six editions so far.
Selected players will follow in the footsteps of Solheim Cup stars Georgia Hall, Charley Hull and Emily Pedersen who have all formerly competed in the match.

- Isla McDonald-O’Brien – Shrewsbury, England

- Maggie Whitehead – Close House, England
First reserve: Roisin Scanlon – Woburn, Ireland
Second reserve: Olivia Costello – Roscommon, Ireland
Kim, O’Brien and Wan helped the England boys’ and girls’ team win the recent Home Internationals at Downfield.
Whitehead played her part in success for the joint men’s and women’s team in the Home Internationals at Ballyliffin.

JACQUES LEGLISE TROPHY
The Jacques Leglise Trophy is an event for under 18 boys with GB&I taking on their continent of Europe rivals. This match was first played in 1958.
The continent of Europe is bidding to secure a third straight victory in the match for the first time after victories at Aldeburgh, England in 2019 and Falsterbo, Sweden in 2021.
A number of high-profile players have also competed on both sides of the match in the past including José María Olazábal, Luke Donald, Jon Rahm, England Golf ambassador Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland.
This year six of the nine-strong squad are drawn from England.
