Castletroy Golf Club has announced details of the Trade Electric Group-sponsored Men’s Senior Scratch Cup.
The competition takes place on Sunday, 14 June.
First played n 1948, the Castletroy Senior Scratch Cup is one of the oldest and most prestigious scratch cups in the country and attracts many of Ireland's best amateur golfers each year.
Tralee’s Mark Gazi, now at Northwestern University, returns to defend the title he won in a dramatic play-off with Davy Reddan last year.
Also, vying for the trophy will be 2025 West of Ireland champion, Dylan Holmes, 2026 Munster Strokeplay Champion, Paul Coughlan, former Irish Close winners, Paul O’Hanlon and Quentin Carew, as well as Irish U-18s Internationals, Isaac Oliver, John-William Burke and Luke Furlong.
Isaac and John-William represented the Irish Men’s Team at the European Octagonal Matches in Spain earlier this year.
Among the recent winners at Castletroy are 2023 Irish Close Champion, Rob Moran, Arnold Palmer Cup Representative David Kitt, Connacht Interprovincial Simon Walker and former South of Ireland and British Amateur Champion, James Sugrue.
The quality of former champions is further exemplified by a unique roll of honour containing seven Walker Cup representatives - John Burke, Jimmy Bruen, Max McCready, JB Carr, Tom Craddock, David Sheahan and Sugrue.
