The forgotten fairways of Olinda, where one of Australia’s steepest golf courses once stood before nature reclaimed its hills.
Henry Peters and the Under the Card team took a nostalgic trip to Olinda, a small town just under an hour east of Melbourne, to explore what’s left of one of Australia’s hilliest golf courses.
As golfers, there’s something a bit sad about seeing the fairways overgrown and the clubhouse, now completely abandoned, falling into disrepair.
It looks to have been an incredibly hilly golf course. It’s now just a quirky piece of golfing history tucked away in the hills, even if it’s now mostly claimed by nature.

The small town of Olinda east of Melbourne used to be home to one of the hilliest golf courses in Australia before it was closed in 2012. We ventured there to see whether any remnants of the old golf course remain and also to investigate the old clubhouse which is now completely abandoned.
