FedEx Cup Top 30 confirmed: 7 Playoff champions lead $40m Tour Championship 2025 field

The full confirmed lineup has been revealed for the PGA Tour season finale, the Tour Championship at East Lake.

A $40million purse makes it the most lucrative PGA Tour event of the season, with the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings fighting it out for the huge $10million winners’ cheque.

The top 30 players have been confirmed, with all of the regular and postseason events contributing FedEx Cup points that have now established the elite group who will make the field this week.

For world number one, Scottie Scheffler, his position in the field was never in doubt as his BMW Championship win over Robert MacIntyre capped off a fourth win in another dominant season.

But for those who faltered at the second FedEx Cup Playoff event, several fell painfully out of the top 30 and saw their season end in Baltimore.

Rory McIlroy and Scheffler headline the former Tour Championship winners in the field

The top two players in the world rankings also lead the FedEx Cup standings and will be the ones to beat at the Tour Championship.

Scheffler is the defending Tour Championship winner after defeating Collin Morikawa by four strokes in 2024 and leads the standings in 2025 with four titles and two Majors on top of his BMW Championship win this year.

Meanwhile, second-placed Rory McIlroy also knows how to win big events and has won the Tour Championship a record three times (2022, 2019, 2016).

In 2025, he won a long-awaited Green Jacket at the Masters to become the sixth player to complete a coveted Career Grand Slam, and he has won three events this year.

Viktor Hovland, who won the 2023 Tour Championship, will look to again secure the winner’s payday as he secured his place in the top 30 of the FedEx Cup standings.

Meanwhile, Justin Rose, Keegan Bradley, Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas have all previously won FedEx Cup Playoff event titles and will be desperate to go one better and secure the biggest individual earner on the PGA Tour.

Starting strokes scrapped at East Lake Golf Club

In recent years, the Tour Championship has allowed players starting strokes to give more of an advantage to the higher players who finished in the FedEx Cup standings.

However, the staggered starts have been scrapped after it became too easy for players to win with their head start and consequently reduced entertainment value for the fans.

Scheffler had a starting advantage in his Tour Championship win last year and was never troubled as he coasted to a four-stroke victory in 2024.

While there is less of an advantage to those who are higher ranked, they received end-of-season bonuses, and this year’s Tour Championship promises to be more exciting than ever before.

The world number one is the hot favourite, but the 30-man field is littered with PGA Tour winners and breakout stars who will all be itching for victory in Georgia.
