Alex Fitzpatrick, brother of Matt, is part of a group of rookies being considered by Team Europe’s Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald.
Fitzpatrick started 2026 in relative obscurity and was not a PGA TOUR player. That all changed when he teamed up with his brother to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. From there, he joined golf’s biggest tour and played his way to finishing tied-fourth at the Tour Championship.
Now he has Luke Donald’s attention ahead of the Ryder Cup heading to Adare Manor next year.
Donald has arranged a get together at Adare Manor, timing it alongside this week’s Amgen Irish Open at Trump International Links, Doonbeg.
Ahead of this week’s event on the DP World Tour, Donald was asked which rookies would feature in the Adare warm-up, responding: “Eugenio Chacarra, Kristoffer Reitan, Alex Fitzpatrick and Angel Ayora.”
The Ryder Cup captain is in action at this week’s Irish Open.
“One of the privileges is I do tend to, most weeks when I’m playing over here, get to choose my pairings,” said Donald.
“I think Alex Fitzpatrick, obviously speaks for itself how well he’s done off the back of his win with his brother at Zurich.
“He’s really kicked on amazingly well, showing that his game holds up against some of the very best on the U.S. tour. Tremendous strong finish at the Tour Championship.
Chacarra has won twice since leaving LIV Golf in 2025.
