Forum Member Review: All Kids Golf Clubs

I’m a golfer and a parent. There’s not much I enjoy more than a well-struck golf shot or a good round of golf. Some things I do enjoy more: the look on my son’s face after his well-struck golf shot or a round of golf with my kids. Introducing your kids to golf and developing your junior golfer is one of the many great joys of this game. Part of that introduction is the equipment and what clubs you hand your aspiring young golfer can be uber-critical to their development.

Cutting down old clubs can seem like a good way to save a buck or two but resist that urge. They’re going to be too heavy and will very likely result in some bad habits creeping in to your fledgling golfer’s swing. Fortunately, age- and size-appropriate clubs are out there from many reputable brands like TaylorMade, COBRA, Lynx, US Kids Golf and more. What’s more, you can shop for them all at All Kids Golf Clubs.

All Kids Golf Clubs recently provided four MyGolfSpy Forum members, more specifically their kids, with a Lynx Ai Junior Golf Club set. Our junior testers, ranging from six to 10 years in age, eagerly took their new clubs to the course. Their experiences demonstrate how the value of age- and size-appropriate clubs enhances a young golfer’s ability to enjoy and grow in the game of golf.

Key highlights

  • Aesthetics: Our junior testers were uber-excited to get new clubs and the Lynx Ai sets didn’t disappoint in the looks department especially.
  • Performance: All Kids and the Lynx Ai sets proved it: if you put the appropriately sized club in a junior golfer’s hand, performance and enjoyment go up.
  • Likes: They may be youth clubs but the Lynx Ai sets are solid, well-built, high-quality sticks.
  • Dislikes: As to be expected, the kids needed to acclimate to some larger and longer clubs. A few found a new larger driver in particular to be a bit intimidating. A couple of testers also had some challenges with the bag.

About All Kids Golf Clubs

All Kids Golf Clubs call themselves “the home of junior golf” with good reason. They began offering custom-built junior clubs online in 1999 and, by the spring of 2005, they had supplied more than 40,000 clubs to customers across the U.S. All Kids Golf Club guarantees they’ll “only sell high-quality clubs and sets we would use for our own families. Due to our experience and relationships in the industry we only offer brands we trust and have fully vetted.” As a result, All Kids Golf Clubs has positioned themselves as a true one-stop shop for all junior golfer needs.

Performance

As an all-grown-up golfer, getting a new set of clubs is one of those rare times you get a break from adulting and can feel like a kid opening a new toy again. In the case of their special deliveries from All Kids Golf Clubs, our junior testers were just as excited. Whether receiving a six-year old’s five-club set or a 10-year old’s seven-club set, our young testers were ecstatic to unbox and bag their new clubs.

“My first reaction was, ‘Wow, these look so cool!’ I love the colorful design of the bag. My old set of clubs had just a wedge, iron, driver and putter, so I’m excited to now have an additional iron and a hybrid added to the mix,” – Max

”I love my new clubs!  Dad’s taking me out for 9 holes tomorrow afternoon and I’m so excited to put these into play!  All Kids has sent me a driver, 5 wood, hybrid, 7 iron, 9 iron, sand wedge, and putter!” – Grant

“I was very excited to get my new clubs. The clubs were much prettier than the ones I am currently using. They came with an actual driver; that thing is so big compared to what I am used to.” – Addison

Performance

I suppose now is a good time to remind you, the reader, that our testers here are ages six. eight, nine and 10 years old. The primary goal at this age is to help the little guy or gal hit more solid shots, have more fun as a result and, ideally, fall in love with this great game. The point being that if you’re looking for launch monitor data, Strokes Gained numbers or stories of falling handicaps, you’re probably reading the wrong article. Maximizing these kids’ enjoyment of the game is the sole measure of success here and enjoy golf they did.

“I really like the irons and feel they are easier to hit than my old set of Nitros. I definitely hit the ball further and have an easier time trying to get the ball in the air….Other than the driver the clubs are shorter than my old set; that just goes to show you the right size of clubs makes a big difference” — Addison

“Max struck both the 7-iron and 9-iron significantly better than his old set’s irons….Both clubs launched higher and landed softer than his old iron. By the end of his third round, I decided to move his tee distance back 20 yars because he had become so adept at using the irons to approach the green” — elight (Max’s Dad)

Likes

The kids really liked the looks of their new clubs. All Kids Golf Clubs takes pride in offering high-quality golf clubs and the Lynx Ai sets they provided our testers were certainly that.

In addition, several of our young testers were very excited to get a new “real” driver.

“The first club I grabbed was my driver and what I loved the most was it has the same pattern (my Dad said carbon fiber) that my Dad has on his driver. This driver is longer than my old one but I can swing it faster already so I know I can hit bombs with it.” – Liam

“I’m really really REALLY excited about the driver. My last two sets of US Bids Golf clubs had a 19 degree wood in it, but this is a real no-kidding driver.” – Liam

The driver did turn out to be a bit of a sticking point for a few of our testers, however.

Dislikes

Their new drivers were big and cool but maybe a little intimidating for some of our young golfers.

“On the course, I couldn’t convince Max to hit the driver. It was just too big for him, being at the bottom end of the height range for this set,” – elight

“The only real bad here is the driver. It is probably not so much the driver itself, I just can’t hit it very well. It just seems harder for me to swing than the other clubs. It seems heavy to me, and my Dad thinks its just too long for me right now,” – Addison

It should be noted that other testers who were not on the bottom end of the recommended height range got along well with their drivers. Grant, with a 400 cc Lynx Ai driver for kids from 57-60 inches in height, gained distance and started hitting drives of more than 200 yards.

The bag also left a bit to be desired with some testers.

“I did however have an issue with the bag. I had my Dad adjust the straps multiple times but every time he did the clubs would weight down and start sliding out of the bag. I finally made him carry it for me.” – Addison

Conclusion

Golf is a rewarding and enjoyable sport but it’s certainly a challenging one, too. When introducing a youngster to the game, don’t make it even more challenging due to ill-fitting equipment. Giving your young one clubs that are too big and too heavy is the wrong way to start their golf journey. Fortunately, All Kids Golf Clubs is well positioned to meet your junior golfer’s needs. As our young testers demonstrated, the right clubs can go a long way towards starting their own love affair with this great game.
