It’s not often that you get a golf shoe that you can wear when you’re not golfing. Golf shoes go one of two ways: your traditional white blucher or saddle shoe. That being said, even if you could wear those shoes off the course, the only time a white blucher looks acceptable is at 1950s Yale or with a Navy officer’s uniform. Over the years, several brands have tried and mostly failed to make a golf shoe that works on and off the course, but G/FORE may have just cracked the code with the new G.112 Spikeless.
Threading the needle between looks and performance is a tough task, but according to G/FORE, the G.112 Spikeless features an updated anti-grip outsole that enhances your connection to the ground. In other words, for as casual as this shoe looks, you’re not sacrificing anything by way of traction. These are also supposed to be water-resistant, and, thanks to their washable insoles, odor-resistant (we’ll all be eager to put that claim to the test). Since these are made of PU leather, they should also be easy to clean, meaning you can keep them looking new for longer.
G/FORE says verbatim that the G.112 Spikeless works on the course or at the clubhouse, and quite frankly, I agree with them. From a style perspective, these almost remind me of something from Alma Mater or Cole Haan, but they definitely stand alone. However, that’s what makes G/FORE uniquely G/FORE. They sit in a space in the golfing world that makes them feel almost familiar but incredibly unique. The styling of these is immaculate— they look like a high-quality Italian leather sneaker fused with a trainer, and boom, you’ve now got a golf shoe, too.
The G.112s come in three colorways: nimbus/shocking orange, snow/twilight, and snow/dune. Out of the three, I’m a big fan of the nimbus/shocking orange, mainly because I’m a sucker for orange accenting anywhere, but I also think they look the most sporty and striking out of the bunch. If you’re a fan of being a little more muted, the other colors will be for you. Nevertheless, all three colorways can be dressed up or down and look perfectly in place in a variety of settings. On initial glance, I’m really impressed with these and we’ll see if they look as good in person as they do in pictures.
