Gazi faces tough defence as draw made for Castletroy Senior Scratch Cup

Liam McDonnell (Organising Committee), Mr Denis O’Leary (2026 Men’s Club Captain) and Gary Howie (PGA Professional) officially launch the 2026 Castletroy Senior Scratch Cup, sponsored by Trade Electric Group.

Tralee’s Mark Gazi faces a tough challenge in his defence of Sunday’s Trade Electric Group-sponsored Castletroy Senior Scratch Cup.

The holder tees off the first with Fota Island’s John Doyle (playing off plus 6.7) and West of Ireland champion Mark Cadden in a strong 78-man field.

Demand for spots in the field was so strong that 30 players are on the waiting list.

Munster Stroke Play champion Paul Coughlan goes out just ahead of Gazi’s. Group with 2025 West of Ireland winner Dylan Holmes from Greystones and Castletroy hope Dean McMahon.

McMahon will be high on confidence after he shot a course record, six-under 66 in his second round en route to a play-off win over Castletroy’s Andrew McCormack at the second tie hole in the inaugural Limerick Scratch Cup last weekend.

McCormack is also in action, as are former Irish Amateur Close champions Pat Murray and Quentin Carew.
