Georgia Set To Tee Off At UAB Hoover Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. — The No. 28-ranked Georgia women’s golf team will compete in its second tournament of the season on Monday, traveling west for the UAB Hoover Invitational at the Hoover Country Club. The Bulldogs will open the tournament with 36 holes of continuous play beginning with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. EDT on Monday before playing 18 holes in the final round on Tuesday.

Five Bulldogs will compete in their second tournament in as many weeks while senior Kate Song will make her season debut in Hoover.

“There was a lot of positive to take from our first event, and the team is ready to build on that foundation,” said head coach Erika Brennan. “Trusting their skills will be paramount, and we are confident we can compete in any field. This event will be another great opportunity to be aggressive and keep our foot on the gas.”

No. 28 Georgia is one of 14 teams making the trip to Hoover for Monday’s tournament and the only squad ranked in the Golfweek preseason rankings. Other teams competing at the invitational include Alabama, Loyola Chicago, Kennesaw State, Louisiana Monroe, North Alabama, Palm Beach State College, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Stetson, Tennessee Tech, UAB, and West Georgia.

Georgia opened the 2024-25 campaign last week at the Cougar Classic, shooting 15-over to place eighth in Charleston, S.C. The Bulldogs combined for four par-or-better rounds and 36 birdies during the 54-hole tournament, with sophomores Celine Brovold Sanne and Emma Falcher leading Georgia in a tie for 23rd, each carding scores of 2-over par.

The Bulldogs will travel six golfers to Hoover, with Falcher anchoring the lineup for the second week in a row. Sophomores Morgan Smith, Grace Frei, and Brovold Sanne will occupy the next three lineup spots while Song will round out the golfers competing for a team score. Graduate transfer Chantal El Chaib will compete as an individual when Georgia takes the course on Monday.

Georgia will make its first-ever appearance at the UAB Hoover Invitational this week. The Bulldogs last competed in the Birmingham area during the 2022-23 postseason when they finished ninth at the SEC Championships, which took place at the Greystone Golf & Country Club in southeastern Birmingham. The Bulldogs went on to finish 11th at the NCAA Championships to cap off their 2022-23 campaign.

Georgia will be paired with Kennesaw State, Loyola Chicago, and Southern Mississippi on Monday with tee times scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Live scoring will be available at https://gado.gs/c3n.
