The 22-year-old from Tampa in Florida, who has just finished her fourth year at the University of South Florida, lost the third to a par, conceded the fifth and lost the sixth to a birdie before falling four down to McClymont’s par at the eighth.

She hit back to win the ninth in birdie and turn three down, then won four of the next six holes to edge in front with five pars and a bogey as McClymont hit a series of wayward tee shots.

Green, who will be a member of the US side in next week’s Arnold Palmer Cup at Lahinch, arrived in Ireland with two wins and nine top-10 finishes for South Florida this season.

McClymont, a 23-year-old two-time R&A Student Series and two-time Irish Women’s Amateur Open winner from Dubarton, has just graduated from the University of Stirling

The winner of this year’s Championship has exciting opportunities, gaining entry to the AIG Women’s Open, US Women’s Open, The Amundi Evian Championship and, by tradition, will earn an invitation to compete at the Augusta National Women's Amateur.

The final is being live-streamed by the R&A at here with the second 18 due to start at 13:40 Irish time.
