Honours even as England and Switzerland play out a draw

England and Switzerland sportingly shared the spoils after today’s under 16 challenge match at Heswall Golf Club in Cheshire.

The England quartet of Sadie Adams (Royal Birkdale), Nellie Ong (Eaton), Chloe Tarbard (Royal Norwich) and Imogen Williamson (Delamere Forest) earned a 3-3 draw with their Swiss opponents ensuring a neutral outcome to the day’s play.

In the morning foursomes, Adams and Tarbard gelled well together to put a point on the board with a 4&2 victory against Carina Stauffer and Amelie Kumar.

The session ended 1-1 after Williamson and Ong lost out on the final hole to the partnership of Mana Hersperger and Anna Olesen.

The afternoon singles were also halved as the match went down to the wire.

Williamson, a member of the England team that won the recent Home Internationals, ran out a 2&1 winner against Stauffer in the top singles game.

Tarbard was even more convincing to claim a 6&4 win over Olesen in her singles game.

However, Hersperger and Kumar won their games against Adams and Ong respectively to make sure nothing could separate the teams after six keenly contested match-ups.
