Horsham Golf to open new retail experience for women

Female golfers frustrated by a lack of choice and sizing options when it comes to buying golf apparel and footwear in the traditional golf club setting will be delighted to know that a new retail experience is opening in the south east later this month that is designed specifically to tackle these issues head on.

Horsham Golf in West Sussex has unveiled a new retail concept aimed at transforming the shopping experience for female golfers, with the launch of a dedicated boutique-style space called ‘edit’.

Located in a standalone building near the club’s main facilities, the new store – which officially open on May 23 – represents a shift away from the traditional pro shop model, offering a more relaxed, personalised environment tailored specifically to women.

With full-length mirrors, a changing room and collections arranged around colour coordinated outfits, edit offers a unique retail experience in a golf club setting

Open to both members and visitors, the space has been designed to feel welcoming and inclusive, catering to everyone from newcomers to experienced players.

The store features a curated selection of apparel, footwear and accessories from leading golf and sportswear brands, including Ping, Röhnisch, G/FORE, J.Lindeberg, Glenmuir, Adidas, Puma and Under Armour. The emphasis is on combining performance with style, while also ensuring consistency of fit – an area often highlighted as a challenge in women’s golf apparel.

A key feature of the edit concept is its focus on customer experience. Visitors can browse at their own pace in a calm setting, with access to expert advice from a female member of the retail team. The space also includes a dedicated changing area, reinforcing its boutique feel.

In a further departure from conventional golf retail, edit will be available for private bookings, as well as selected times for walk-in customers. Individuals or small groups of up to five can reserve exclusive access to the store, creating a more personalised and social shopping experience. Customers who pre-book will also receive a £10 voucher to use during their visit.

Many of the leading brands are represented, including spring/summer collections from PING, J.Lindeberg and Glenmuir, along with a wide range of fashion-forward footwear

Horsham Golf’s General Manager, Mike Yorke, said the initiative was driven by a clear gap in the market. He said: “The retail experience for female golfers has traditionally been limited and impersonal, yet the women’s game is growing rapidly. With edit, we wanted to create a warm, welcoming environment where women can browse leading brands in comfort, whether independently or with friends.”

The club, whose facilities include an 18-hole golf course, 9-hole par-3 course and a 16-bay covered driving range, hopes the concept will not only enhance its retail offering but also encourage more women to engage with the game in a comfortable and welcoming environment.

The official launch of edit will take place on Saturday, May 23, with the store open to all from 10am to 5pm.
