How Much Does a Set of Golf Clubs Cost in 2024?

Each year, as we conduct our best golf club testing, we recognize that price is among the most important factors in choosing new clubs. We’ve analyzed some of the best value options and premium-priced equipment to give you a realistic range of what to expect if you’re shopping for a set of new golf clubs. Remember, as the season winds down and 2025 equipment launches approach, there are often great deals and price drops to take advantage of.

Drivers

A new name-brand driver in 2024 costs about $600. When the latest models are released, it’s hard to find anything for less than that. Some, like the XXIO, are closer to $699. If you were looking for a bargain, the Kirkland Signature was $199. It finished in the middle of the pack of the 37 drivers we tested in 2024.

As we reach the end of the season, pricing has dropped to about $500 on most new releases. If you want something from two seasons ago, you can find a few in the $249 to $399 range.

Fairway woods

In 2024, name-brand fairway woods cost between $330 and $400. The Wilson Dynapower was released at $199 and has stayed there all season. It’s the runner-up for the best fairway wood of 2024, good news for bargain hunters. End-of-season pricing has dropped most new fairway woods to less than $299 and some to around $229.

Irons

Golf irons can be divided into categories and there are some big differences in pricing in these categories. Typically, the most expensive type of golf iron is the player’s iron. These irons undergo an extensive manufacturing process using premium materials to enhance feedback, feel and control. The result is a higher-priced iron.

Player’s Irons

Most set of player’s irons cost around $1,400 in 2024. However, the Ram Axial Forged made it on our list, priced at just $449. It took third place overall and had great distance and forgiveness performance. Players who tested the Ram Axial Forged noted that as great as the performance was, the looks, sound and feel were lacking.

Player’s Distance

The players’ distance iron category ended up being one of the toughest places to find a deal in 2024. You’ll spend over $1,000 for a set in this category. Our top choice, the Srixon ZX5 MK II, was $1,199 when released and dropped to $999 recently.

Game-Improvement

The Tour Edge Exotics E723 was the best game-improvement iron of 2024 and it costs $799 for a set. The MacGregor MacSPD was another top contender, priced much lower at $499. Game-improvement irons are typically in the $700 to $1,000 range. Some, like the T350 from Titleist, go up to $1,399.

Super Game-Improvement Irons

Our super game-improvement iron test revealed some great value options, with the Tommy Armour 845+ winning best overall at $399. Most other options were between $700 and $1,000.

Hybrids

PING G430 Hybrids Review

The release price of a new brand-name hybrid in 2024 was right around $299. The PING G430 was the best hybrid of 2024 and it is currently $239. End-of-season pricing shows that hybrids are dropping to the $250 range.

Wedges

Wedges are a category where we really see the pricing edging up each year. Some of the best wedges in golf ranged in price from $179 to $200. The Sub 70 TAIII was $125 and still managed to win the best wedge for consistency.

Putters

Blade-style putters ranged from $150 to $450. The Cleveland HB Soft 2 #1 is the best-value blade putter of 2024 with a price of just $150. It was the best blade overall from 20 feet and is an option worth considering if you are on a budget.

Mallet putters were similar to blades, priced in the $250 to $400 range.

Golf bag

If you invest in all these new clubs, they better go in a golf bag that protects them! In 2024, we found many golf bags in the $200 to $300 range but overall pricing went from $189 to $450. Some of the best values we saw were the Maxfli Honors cart and stand bags for $189. Vessel had some of the more premium options over $400.
