Kearney, McKibbin and Yates set the pace for Irish golf

Niall Kearney leads the Irish in the Magical Kenya Open at Muthaiga, nine shots behind India's Shubhankar Sharma.

He shot a level par 71 to make the cut with a shot to spare on one-under as Jonathan Caldwell shot 66 and Cormac Sharvin and Paul Dunne 72s to make it on the mark.

In the Challenge Tour's Mangaung Open, Tom McKibbin continued his impressive start to the season, adding a 70 to his opening 68 to share 38th on six-under in the weather-delayed Mangaung Open. Scores

He was seven shots behind South Africa's Pieter Moolman with Richard O'Donovan just outside the projected cut mark on four-under after a 69 and Robin Dawson and John Murphy three-under with nine and 12 holes to complete, respectively.

At the Alps Tour's New Giza Open in Cairo, Naas' Jonathan Yates made seven birdies in a six-under 66 to share fifth place, just three strokes behind Spain's Joel Moscatel with West Waterford's Gary Hurley the next best Irishman after a 68.

James Sugrue was tied 36th after a 70 with Conor Purcell and David Carey tied 56th after 71s.

Simon Bryan shot 74 to share 90th with Paul McBride five-over after a 77.
