World No 3 Jon Rahm is looking forward to a “special” experience as LIV Golf makes its debut in South Africa, marking a significant milestone in the Tour’s global expansion.
Rahm, one of LIV Golf’s marquee signings, expressed his enthusiasm about competing on the continent, describing it as a unique opportunity to grow the game in emerging markets.
“It’s going to be a special week,” he said. “Bringing elite golf to places that don’t always get these events is important for the sport.”
Rahm will be among 54 elite golfers set to compete in the inaugural LIV Golf South Africa at Steyn City from 20 to 22 March, featuring LIV Golf’s trademark team format, with Rahm captaining Legion XIII against a field of star-studded line-ups.
The Spaniard highlighted the importance of connecting with local fans and inspiring a new generation of golfers.
“It’s about more than just the golf – it’s about leaving a legacy and sparking interest in places where the game is still developing,” he said.
