lululemon is one of, if not the biggest, names in athleisure. They’ve dominated the stretchy yoga pants game and five-inch inseam frat-boy shorts market for years.
But until recently, lululemon had a rather large piece of the pie missing from their growing portfolio: golf.
Golf? Hasn’t lululemon always had polos? Sure. They’ve had polos for years. And their ever-popular ABC pants make frequent appearances on golf courses and college campuses around the globe. But they were mostly seen as clothing for everyday wear. Until recently, lululemon had marketed their polos, pants, etc., as appropriate for golf, but had yet to make anything specifically for golf. There’s a difference.
I remember the first time I saw a pair of pants from lululemon marketed as actual golf pants. This was around 2022 when the brand signed former NBA player turned college golfer JR Smith to an NIL deal.
Even still, lululemon didn’t go all in on golf, at least not then. Those who have been fans of the brand for years saw the potential but it wasn’t until lululemon signed budding star, Min Woo Lee that the brand really started taking golf seriously.
That brings us to now. lululemon, rather quietly, has expanded their lineup of golf-specific clothing. As someone who’s experienced multiple pieces firsthand, I’ll be the first to say that it’s good. Between dominating the Best Golf Pants and Best Golf Shorts tests in 2023, lululemon is off to a hot start.
Let’s see what they’ve got cooking for 2024.
A Few of My Favorites
I’ve spent ample time in some of lululemon’s golf gear I wanted to take the time to highlight a few of my favorites in the hopes that you, like me, can upgrade your wardrobe. Trust me, your partner will probably like the gear just as much as you will.
Golf Half-Zip Windbreaker
This piece has quickly become a staple in my closet. I love the oversized fit and the soft brushed fabric interior. On top of looking rather sleek, the windbreaker is also water-resistant, making it the perfect light jacket for those surprisingly blustery spring and fall rounds.
Why Buy
- Oversized fit
- Windproof
- Water-resistant
- Cuffed sleeves
- Drawstring hem
- UPF 40+ protection
Logo Sport Short Sleeve Polo
lululemon has always killed the polo game but it wasn’t until they introduced the Logo Sport Polo that they made something great for golf. This breathable, stretchy polo fits just right. With sweat-wicking fabric and snap-closure collar, this shirt is absolutely golf course ready.
Why Buy
- No-Stink Zinc treatment
- Sweat-resistant
- Snap closure
- Stretchy and comfortable
ABC Slim-Fit Golf Trouser
The lululemon ABC pant is already a staple in my closet. When they came out with a version designed for golf, I was hooked from the jump. They’re stretchy, breathable and feature nifty golf-specific features like a zippered ball pocket.
Why Buy
- Stretchy
- Water-resistant
- Ventilated gusset
- Zippered ball pocket and drop-in tee pocket
- Spouse-approved fit
Other Course-Ready Gems
- ABC Classic Fit Golf Shorts. Everything you know and love about lululemon’s ABC tech baked into a functional, comfortable golf short.
- Mockneck Golf Long-Sleeve Baselayer. Because protecting your skin from the sun is just as important as getting up and down for par.
- ABC Slim-Fit Trouser Warpstreme. If “versatile” was a pair of pants. The ABC Trouser is good for date night or a beach day in the bunker.
- Pace Breaker Jacket. For the days that it’s too cold to do the yardwork but warm enough to hit the golf course.
Let Him Cook!
If there was a way to describe what lululemon is doing in golf, it would be with their poster-child’s favorite catch phrase: “Let him cook!” Or, in this case, “let them cook!”
lululemon is taking golf seriously and they’re doing a darn good job at it.
I’ll end with this: Each piece of lululemon gear I own has been well worth the price. Between the longevity of their gear and quality promise, investing in new golf gear from lululemon is money well spent, in my opinion.
