ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia golfer Maxwell Ford has been chosen as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, according to an announcement Wednesday by the league office.
Ford, a native of Peachtree Corners, Ga., finished a career-best 18th in the Southwestern Invitational in California. Ford matched both his low round (2-under 70) and low 54-hole total (even-par 216) and posted a trio of counting rounds. His 2-under 70 paced the Bulldogs to a season-best 10-under 278 in the opening round.
Ford has been a counter in 11 of 12 rounds this season and boasts a scoring average of 72.92.
Ford and the Bulldogs will return to action Sunday through Tuesday in the Puerto Rico Classic.
