McIlroy’s Masters documentary to air on Prime Video from March 30

Rory McIlroy is counting down to his defence of the Masters next month, but fans looking for an insight into his dramatic quest for the final leg of the career Grand Slam can watch Prime Video’s “Rory McIlroy: The Masters Wait” from March 30.

Amazon’s feature-length documentary from Everyone Else, in association with Firethorn Productions, tells the tale of McIlroy’s winding road to his 2025 Masters victory

It includes footage of him as a child, stating his goal was to win all four Majors, scenes from his 2011 meltdown, and the story of last year’s dramatic play-off win over Justin Rose.

The documentary will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

“I watched Tiger win the Masters in ’97,” McIlroy recounts. “After that, Augusta really became this thing for me.”

He speaks openly about 2011 and the final-round meltdown, when he took a four-shot lead into Sunday only to shoot 80 as South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel took the green jacket.

“I just don't think I was ready,” McIlroy said of that fateful day.

As the years passed and the ghosts of past failures began to take their toll, McIllroy says:“I started to think, when's it going to be my turn to win the Masters?”
