Mickelson issues “full response” to Perez article

Phil Mickelson has issued a 738-word statement in reply to the article that outlines his sexual misconduct and exits from several top courses.

The statement barely gets into any facts but rather appears to try muddy the waters with his own smoke and mirror show.

He strongly disputes being expelled from any golf clubs and seems to suggest the photo shown to Ashley Perez, the then wife of PGA TOUR player Pat Perez, was a topless photo. Perez said it was a whole lot more in her explosive interview with Alan Shipnuck, the very same author that Mickelson opened up to regarding doing business with the Saudis.

“Mr Mickelson has never been expelled from a golf club. His membership has never been revoked by a golf club. Those decisions were his alone,” read the statement.

“Mr Mickelson’s willingness to apologise for his conduct should not be misconstrued as an admission of every allegation made against him.”

Mickelson’s statement calls out the publication Skratch for its links to the PGA TOUR and says the report was “a compelling, click-bait narrative over an accurate one” and an “anonymously sourced drive-by shooting”.

Skratch’s editor-in-chief Ben Boskovich told the New York Post the publication “stands by its reporting”.

A spokeswoman for Phil Mickelson provided @FOS with the following statement responding to last week’s report from @AlanShipnuck for @Skratch.
