Mizuno’s Keith Mitchell is one of the most respected drivers of a golf ball on the PGA Tour – with a potent combination of distance and fairways hit. So while were filming his reaction to the new Mizuno Pro irons, we asked Keith if he would hit a few drives and talk us through his strategy.
Keith pointed to the technological advancement of new drivers that now allows him to hit a fade without losing distance. Mitchell plays the Mizuno ST-Z driver.
My one secret is that I try and do the same thing on every drive. Everything about a drive is the same – we normally have different lies, shot lengths. We want to hit as far and straight as we can – but we’re always on a tee. All the variables are gone. Doesn’t matter on the wind or shape of fairway. I try and keep it as simple as possible and hit a fade on every shot. It takes a lot of doubt out of my mind.
Now with the new technology – you can tale the spin off a fade so that you’re not losing distance.
