Morrison secures DP World Tour return

England’s James Morrison capped off a remarkable week — and an unexpected career revival — by winning the Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A on Sunday, clinching a return to the DP World Tour just days after admitting he had planned to retire from professional golf.

The 40-year-old entered the season finale at Club de Golf Alcanada in Mallorca intending it to be his final event, but a composed performance alongside his 13-year-old son Finley, who served as his caddie, changed everything. Morrison carded a two-under-par final round of 70, finishing at 15-under for the week to claim a three-shot victory over Italy’s Stefano Mazzoli.

The win propelled Morrison up 30 spots in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, ending the season sixth overall and guaranteeing his spot back on golf’s global stage for 2026.

“When I said this was going to be my last event, it really was going to be 100 percent,” Morrison admitted. “This has completely messed that up.”

Reflecting on his week, the two-time DP World Tour winner said:

“I played nicely all week. Didn’t play as well today but managed my emotions and dug into my memory bank with my past wins. The wind helped me — the tougher it got, the better it suited me. I stayed calm, stayed with it, and on the last hole, I couldn’t even feel my arms on the swing. But a win is a win.”

Morrison becomes the seventh Englishman to capture the Rolex Grand Final title, joining Marco Penge (2023), Nathan Kimsey (2022), Matt Haines (2010), James Hepworth (2006), Richard Bland (2001), and Ian Garbutt (1996).

In the season-long standings, JC Ritchie made history by becoming the first South African to top the Road to Mallorca Rankings, securing the No. 1 position after finishing seventh in Spain.

For Morrison, the victory not only marks a career resurgence but also rewrites his plans for retirement — and ensures that fans will see him once again on the DP World Tour next season.
