MyGolfSpy Random WITB: Volume 2

Each week, we will highlight a WITB from a MyGolfSpy Forum member. Have an interesting bag or want to be highlighted? Share your WITB here.

To kick off this series, we have what may be the most interesting bag of any member on the Forum. I say this because the L.A.B. DF2.1 may be the most “normal” club in his bag.

Let’s get into it.

Driver: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D

About the club: EasyPutter was one of our members selected to test the AI Smoke Max D and it proved worthy of staying in the bag, for now, as he still has a love-hate relationship with it.

Hybrid: Tommy Armour 19-degree 3-Hybrid

About the club: This club was a gift from the PGA Western NY Section Headquarters at the conclusion of the program in August 2019. The Tommy Armour hits nice and straight off both grass and a short tee, with distances in the 160- to 185-yard range.

Trouble Club: Stan Thompson Ginty

About the club: A find from a local golf shop, it features a 4-wood length shaft and boat-shaped sole to split the grass like a boat hull splits waves, minimizing the effect of grass on the club’s swing path in the rough. The weight is in the lower part of the clubhead, and it really does perform well when a hybrid would tend to thin a ball lying low in the grass.

Irons: FirstStrike Deliverance Hybrid Irons

About the clubs: These have been a favorite for EasyPutter as he is on his third set. For him, “the wider sole can take a good divot, but I had far fewer swings that tilled soil.” They may look unconventional but if they work, that is really all that matters.

Gap Wedge: Worx 56-degree hybrid wedge

About the club: Another club with a non-traditional hybrid sole that helped him with bunker play and met his gapping needs in his bag.

Lob Wedge: Lovett Golf Company 59-degree

About the club: This club continues to meet EasyPutter’s needs. After finding success with the previous hybrid-style wedge, the Lovett 59-degree made the bag after being another used-club find.

Chipper: Orlimar Escape CH 37-degree

About the club: Bottom line: it was a club he had been looking for and one that fit his needs. After a quick trial run, he determined it was what he needed so it made the bag.

Putter: L.A.B. DF2.1

About the club: EasyPutter was one of our Forum member testers for the first L.A.B. member test a few years ago. The DF 2.1 successfully made his bag after testing and has helped him improve his putting in the years that followed.

EasyPutter’s WITB goes to show you don’t necessarily need all the newest gear to enjoy golf and play your best. After playing with multiple sets and different clubs, these are what he has landed on and found most successful.
