JACKSONVILLE, Nc.—Oglethorpe junior Jackson Hiller took runner-up individually, and the No. 14 Oglethorpe men’s golf team nearly took the team win, ultimately finishing fourth at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate this weekend at Paradise Point Golf Club. The Stormy Petrels held a one-stroke lead over the rest of the field after two rounds but could not hold on.
Hiller (69-69-72) finished one stroke off medalist honors with his 6 under par effort. Ryan Dunn (74-74-70) and Barton Abstein (70-73-75) followed next in a tie for 17th, then Corbin Scott and Ethan Breth rounded out the Oglethorpe lineup.
As a team, Oglethorpe (288-290-293) was one stroke off third place, four strokes off second place, and six strokes off winning the event.
Tournament Notes
- The Petrels ranked second in the field for par 4 scoring, fourth in the field in par 5 scoring and fifth in the field in par 3 scoring.
- The team was second in pars with 165 and fourth in birdies with 44.
- Hiller led all individuals by two strokes on the par 4’s, shooting 5 under, and he also led in birdies with 15.
- Abstein and Dunn both shot 5 under on the par 5’s, ranking eighth.
