Internationals captain Geoff Ogilvy is still not allowed to pick LIV Golf players despite the ongoing uncertainty facing the rebel league.
The Presidents Cup is owned by the PGA TOUR … which means any players affiliated with LIV Golf were ineligible.
Ogilvy outlined the players that might’ve been called upon including fellow Aussies Cameron Smith and Lucas Herbert plus the in-form Joaquin Niemann.
“I asked it two years ago when this job started,” Ogilvy told Australian media on Tuesday, as per Fox Sports.
“I guess it just hasn’t unfolded to the point where they’re ready to, sort of, let that happen.”
But with LIV Golf now in limbo, the picture could change …
“It’s a great unknown LIV’s future at this point,” the International captain continued.
“So, in the future, it’d be great to see whatever comes out of it at the end of this that every International player, and every US player to be fair, is available to play this tournament.
“Because it’s a great tournament and it would be great if you had the whole pool of talent to pick from.”
A player like Dean Burmester would’ve also been a potential captain’s pick.
