Oosthuizen on future: “Next few weeks are big weeks for us”

With another LIV Golf season complete, Louis Oosthuizen also reflected on a year that included a milestone much closer to home, bringing the league to South Africa.

The home event also produced Southern Guards GC’s best team result of the season, with the Rhinos finishing second in front of their South African supporters.

For Oosthuizen, however, the significance of the week extended well beyond the leaderboard.

“I felt that bringing the tournament to South Africa was probably one of the best things I’ve done in my career,” said Oosthuizen.

“It was for the people of South Africa and I think it was a great success. That is the best thing that came out of this year.”

Attention will now turn to what lies ahead for Southern Guards GC, with Oosthuizen hopeful the team and LIV Golf will return to South African soil in 2027.

“I know the next few weeks are big weeks for us to make some decisions and see what’s going on,” he said.

“But if it works out, we’ll be back at Steyn City next year.”

Whatever comes next, the 2026 season saw Southern Guards GC continue to fly the South African flag around the world, with their best result fittingly coming on home soil as South African supporters had the opportunity to experience and share in the team’s journey firsthand.
