Jordan Spieth won the Open last time out at Royal Birkdale in a choatic finish which has been outlawed for this year’s edition.
In 2017, Spieth made one of the game’s most famous bogeys after an errant drive.
The scenes were chaotic and prolonged – it took 23 minutes – but organisers have moved to ensure the madness won’t be repeated.
Spieth took an unplayed at Royal Birkdale’s 13th hole during the 2017 Open and ended up hitting his third shot from the club’s driving range. Before eventually making bogey and defeating Matt Kuchar.
The same area is now out of bounds.
