Owls Finish Fourth at Rio Verde Invite

RIO VERDE, Az. — Kennesaw State women’s golf turned another strong round to cap the Rio Verde Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

The Owls posted a 6-over team score to finished with a 300-290-294 (20-over par) at the Rio Verde Golf Club.

Scorecard

Nyah Kelly had a red-hot back nine, sinking three birdies (five total) to finish with a season-best 2-over par 70. She finished 1-under for the tournament to tie for fourth overall in the field.

Alessandra Nagayo always caught fire in the final round, carding a 1-under 71 for the day to jump to 15th overall in the field.

Also finishing in the top-15 individually was Sabrina Kim, who turned in a 3-over par 75 to finish 13th overall.

Natasha Korman (3-over) and Hannah Cheryl Alan (6-over) rounded out the Owls performances, finishing 43rd and 93rd, respectively, for the tournament.

Inside the Clubhouse:

  • Kelly and Kim both tied for fifth best scores on Par 3’s, averaging 3.07 strokes per hole. The finished 1-over on Par 3’s for the tournament.
  • Kelly had the second-best score average on Par 4’s, averaging 3.83 to finish 4-under on Par 4’s. Nagayo also tied for third on Par 4’s at 3.88 with a 3-under finish.
  • Kim tied for the second-best average on Par 5’s, recording a 4.73 to finish 4-under on the holes.
  • Kelly finished tied for seventh with 10 birdies on the weekend, while Nagayo tied for eighth with 38 pars.
  • The Owls as a team recorded the third-best score on Par 4’s, averaging 4.12 strokes per hole.
  • The Owls also finished tied for the sixth-most birdies on the weekend with 31.

Kennesaw State returns to the east coast to start a busy month of March that features four tournaments. It all begins on Monday, March 3 at the North Florida Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
